Rain or Shine: USO Stuttgart Delivers "Franks for Your Service" to the Military Community
Across the globe, USO centers host events throughout the year designed to show appreciation and support the well-being of service members and their families. Whether it’s a holiday celebration or a simple meal shared together, these moments are more than just fun. They’re about building community, offering comfort, and reminding our military communities they’re never alone.

One such event is “Franks for Your Service,” a monthly tradition hosted by USO Stuttgart that’s all about saying thank you in the most classic American way possible, with hot dogs, chips, sodas and smiles. Although small, this event is a meaningful way to bring a slice of home to those stationed overseas.
At a recent “Franks for Your Service,” the skies opened up and rain poured down, but that didn’t stop the Stuttgart team. With determination, they threw on rain jackets, set up tents and kept the grill going. Despite the weather, dozens of service members and families showed up, proving there doesn’t have to be sunshine for connection and community.
Events like this wouldn’t be possible without the incredible dedication of volunteers and our partner organizations, like Leadec.
Tatjana Bieker, Leadec’s Head of Talent Acquisition & Employer Branding Europe, has volunteered alongside the USO on multiple occasions, personally showing up to give back to the Stuttgart military community and deepen Leadec’s impact.
My favorite part of this event was connecting with the highly dedicated USO volunteers,“ said Tatjana, "showing Leadec’s commitment and making service members smile.

Leadec’s commitment to the military community extends beyond volunteering at events. As an active partner in USO Transitions programs, Leadec has led valuable trainings on how to navigate the German job market, providing service members and their families with tools, insights, and confidence as they plan for life after the military. Their ongoing support helps ensure that the USO mission of connection and continuity continues long after a service member hangs up their uniform.

“We’re connecting with [service members], mentoring, and making time for questions. They really appreciate it, and that is very motivating,” said Tatjana. | Photo credit USO Photo
I like their surprised faces when they realize that a local company is interested in them.
“We’re connecting with them, not only offering jobs, but also mentoring, and making time for questions. [Service members] really appreciate it, and that is very motivating,” said Tatjana.
Thanks to dedicated partners like Leadec, we’re able to provide meaningful support that strengthens the lives of service members and their families. Our mission is to stand by them throughout their military journey. Through their active involvement in the USO Transitions Program, Leadec helps empower service members with the resources, mentorship, and confidence they need to successfully navigate life after service.
“Tatjana’s support for our military community has had such a positive impact on the community as a whole,” said USO Center Operations Specialist Renee Duncan. “Her involvement in events like Franks for Your Service provides valuable information to transitioning service members. With her knowledge and guidance, she empowers people to move forward to the next chapter, armed with the necessary tools and confidence to be successful.”
