USO Impacts Hundreds of Sailors in Souda Bay

USO Souda Bay has been in full force, ensuring service members aboard the USS Truman, USS Jason Dunham and USS The Sullivans feel supported during their time in port.

Starting at 0500, USO staff member, Priya, and her team of volunteers helped sailors start the day on a high note, with breakfast and hot coffee. On Super Bowl Sunday, there was a watch party with over 100 sailors on the Dunham, along with a nacho bar and a fun game of trivia.

One sailor, reflecting on his experience, said,

This is my first day off the ship and I got a goodie bag. I am so happy!

For many sailors, these small moments of kindness and connection while in port are priceless.

During this port visit, the USO impacted hundreds of service members with care packs, toiletry kits, bingo, trivia, and sweet treats—offering a small taste of home when they need it most. Sailors also had the chance to send a recorded story home through the USO Reading Program.

The team ensured sailors left with much-needed items they can use and enjoy while underway. USO Care Packs with toiletry items like shampoo, toothpaste and body wash ensure that the people in the U.S. military have what they need while far from home. They also left with USO2GOs full of snacks and lots of great activities like a casino night, spa night, paracord crafting, paint night, and board games.

These moments of connection and appreciation are what the USO is all about. Whether it’s through a shared Super Bowl moment, a thoughtful care package, or a relaxing night of activities, the USO continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of sailors, strengthening the bond between them and the communities that support them back home.
