USO Bavaria Volunteers Recognized for Incredible Service

Recently, multiple volunteers from USO Bavaria were recognized by U.S. Army Garrison Bavaria leadership for their many hours of effort and dedication in supporting our service members.

From USO Grafenwoehr, Becky Robbins Gerlach, Janet Steeby and Ssg Job Ojo who were recognized as the USAG Bavaria Volunteers of the Year in the categories of Civilian/Retiree, Family Member and Active Duty. Together, they volunteered a total of 1,482.5 hours in 2022— adding critical assistance to their local centers and community outreach events.

Volunteers from USO Ansbach were also honored at USAG Ansbach’s Volunteers of the Year Recognition Ceremony on Friday, May 12. Manuel Lema was honored in the Retiree category and Randy and Shelly Adams in the Family of the Year category. Together the three volunteers donated 202.75 hours of their time supporting USO Ansbach.

Of the four categories in USAG Bavaria, our USO Volunteers were selected for top honors in three of the four categories.

USO Area 4 is incredibly grateful for the support we receive from our individual and group volunteers,“ said Senior Area Director, Carly Harris. To quote Helen Keller: ‘Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.’ Our Area 4 Volunteers contributed 17,422 hours in 2022.

Beyond the number of hours volunteered, the actions of these volunteers symbolize the power of compassion, selflessness, and a deep sense of duty. Their dedication not only uplifts the spirits of our service members, but also strengthens the bonds within the military community. Their efforts serve as a reminder of the profound difference that can be made when individuals come together with a shared purpose.
