USO OCONUS Volunteer of the Year 2021, SPC Luke Dawson

Please join us in congratulating SPC Luke Dawson who was recently selected as USO OCONUS Volunteer of the Year 2021. Luke has earned this honor by going well above and beyond volunteer responsibilities and exceeding our expectations through his dedication to mission first, excellence, and gratitude towards the volunteer opportunity. He has made a significant impact on the center and quality of life of his fellow service members while at USO Erbil. SPC Dawson quickly became proficient in center operations where he taught and trained new volunteers, supported staff, and led programs. He also took it upon himself to collaborate with our Behavioral Health volunteers and designed a bi-weekly trivia program to boost morale, and this event brought in more service members for a non-physical event than had been seen since before COVID restrictions! Additionally, baking is SPC Dawson’s passion, and he was able to showcase his skills every Friday by producing delicious concoctions and bringing a true taste of home to his fellow service members. Our team is always amazed at the dedication of service members like Luke Dawson, who serve the nation admirably and provide so much mission support for the USO. We salute you Luke and thank you for all the time you gave to the USO and your continued service to the United States Army. #BeTheForce #USOVolunteers
